KAYONZA – Immaculate Mukagatsinzi, 40, and Gerard Rukwaya, 46, parents with newly born triplets, have reason to smile after the Ministry of Health gave them a Friesian cow.

The couple with 9 children are residents of a village in Kiyenzi located in Gahini sector, Kayonza district. 

The cow was officially handed over to the couple by George Gahenda, who represented the Minister of Health at the occasion on Tuesday. 

Gahenda said he was fulfilling the promise the Minister of Health Dr. Richard Sezibera, made to the couple a few days ago. 

"The Minister promised to support this couple with a Friesian cow. I have visited this village today to fulfill the pledge on his behalf,” he said. 

Antoine Ruburika, the Executive secretary of Gahini sector, thanked the Ministry for caring for the citizens. He however warned residents that the cow given to the couple should not be a motivation for them to produce many children. 

"I am not surprised…our government has shown relentless concern for its citizens. I however want to tell you that we are not encouraging you to produce many children,” he said causing laughter. 

Mukagatsinzi, said she was overwhelmed by the support the Minister gave them, and promised to work hard to bring up the triplets.  

"The Minister promised us some support…but I never thought it would be made so soon. I am pleased with the gesture and God will certainly reward him. I don’t see any problem now of bringing up the triplets with enough milk at my disposal,” she said.
