MALAWI International Chikuepo Msowoya scored four goals as APR thrashed Telkom of Djibouti 6-1 to cement their place in the quarter final of this year’s Kagame Cup.

With the score poised at 2-1 at half time, Msowoya stunned the hapless visitors with a mesmerizing second half blitz at Nyamirambo’s regional stadium.

Having opened his count on the 3rd minute, the striker scored his second on the 55th minute before adding further strikes on the 62nd and 75th minute.

Congolese Kayembe Mutambayi and Didier Rogba Sella completed the rout although the latter’s joy was short-lived as he received his matching orders for his weird celebration.

Telkom’s consolation goal came from Duher Ahmed after poor goal keeping from Jean Luc Ndayishimiye.
Haruna Niyonzima, Jean Baptista Mugiraneza, Albert Ngabo and skipper Patrick Mafisango were all exceptional on the day but Kabange Twite took the man of the match award for his key contribution to this thumping win.

Telkom have now conceded 14 goals in their first two Group A ties. In their opening fixture, the side was left for dead after an 8-0 rout by title favourites TP Mazembe.

Earlier in the day, TP Mazembe sealed their slot in the last eight after a 2-1 victory over Burundi champions Vital’O.
After a goalless first half, Alain Kaliyutuka converted a 50th minute penalty to put the African champions ahead. 2010 Caf Africa player of the year Tresor Mputu Mabi then scored his third goal of the tournament on the 65th minute.

Vital’O kept fighting and got their reward on the 90th minute when Mbakiye Beby Miami came from the bench to score.

TP Mazembe and APR now have six points a piece although the former top the group on goal difference. Vital’O is third while Telkom remains at the foot of the group.

Msowoya leads the top scorers’ chart with four goals while TP Mazembe pair of Ghislain Mvete and Mputu follow with three goals each.
