KINYINYA - Maryhill Old Girls Association (Mogar) has put smiles on faces of 47 child family heads and other dependants.

The organisation on Sunday donated Frw1million to 47 child-headed families, composed of the 1994 Genocide child survivors in Kinyinya, Gasabo District, Kigali City. 

Each family was given Frw47, 000 to take care of their Christmas celebrations.
Mogar was formed by about 100 Rwandan women including top government officials who studied at Maryhill Girls School in Uganda.  

State ministers for Cooperation, and Skills Development and Labour Rosemary Museminari and Angelina Muganza, respectively, are both members of the association.
While handing out the cash envelopes, Museminari advised the children to be patient and confident in order to meet their expectations.

"You should know that even today’s leaders you see went through the same hardships like you,” she said.

The donation was in line with Mogar’s initiative of coming closer to Genocide orphans heading families, by giving them basic necessities during Christmas celebrations.

According to the project coordinator, Jane Nyamuhungu, Mogar members traditionally share happiness with disadvantaged children during Christmas and New Year’s season.
