President Paul Kagame was, on Saturday, elected the Presidential candidate of the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) during the Party’s National Congress, leaving many of his supporters excited. The New Times’ Senior Reporter Edwin Musoni caught up with some of the RPF party members and sought their views on why they voted for him.

I have all reasons to vote for Kagame, I have personally benefited from his leadership. I run my business effectively and safely; I need to keep in this same system and that is why I want Kagame to remain in power.

President Kagame impressed me so much when he introduced the nine-year-basic education programme. I am sure that every mother who happens to be a responsible citizen will live to thank Kagame for this free education system.

If Africa had leaders like Kagame, we would be far by now. During his mandate, he has merged the icon of prosperity and development. The world is currently seeking consultancy from him.

Kagame has been the best leader Rwanda has ever had.
Today, all Rwandans have access to basic needs however, there is need to increase access to clean water in some rural areas.

President Kagame really led us well in the past years, there has been general improvement in our lives as compared to how we lived before he came to power. I personally request him to keep up in this spirit.

There has been tremendous improvement in all sectors of the country but what is more visible to local people is the rapid infrastructural development. If president Kagame keeps this pace, there is no doubt that Rwanda will surpass our expectations in the next five year.
