AS the national volleyball league swings into day eight this afternoon, the center of focus is a clash between a rejuvenated UNATEK side and National University of Rwanda (UNR) in Kibungo.

UNR, who last won the league in 2007, are in second place with 19 points but UNATEK can bridge the gap if they win today.

The team marches into the game on 17 points after a run of five wins and two defeats and UNATEK Coach Dominique Ntawangundi expects his star spikers Olivier Ntagengwa and Aimable Mutuyimana to lead from the front.

"They have been phenomenon in previous games and hope they keep that momentum going on Saturday (today),” he said.

On the other hand, Ntawangundi’s opposite number Fidele Nyirimana believes his experienced side can record a seventh win.

"In past meetings, we have been superior so there is no reason why we can’t keep that going.”

Else where, reigning champions APR hope to keep their winning streak going when they entertain St. Joseph Kabgayi.

The army side is still unbeaten after seven matches.  Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) also hosts Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC).
