JEAN Claude Gasigwa will play Mathieu Uwizeyimana in the men’s singles final of the Bralirwa Tennis Open this morning at Nyarutarama Sports Club.

The tennis ace progressed to the final after defeating Damascene Munyaneza 6-7 6-4 6-4. After losing the first set (6-7), Gasigwa recovered to win the next two sets 6-4 6-4. In the other semi-final, Uwizeyimana saw off Janvier Mugwaneza 6-1 7-6.

In the women’s fray, Joseline Umulisa defeated Filidaus Uwimana 6-4 6-3 to set up a final’s clash with the experienced Gisele Umumararungu. Umumararungu stormed the final after beating Meagan Ingabire 7-5 6-1.

The six day event which is divided into three categories; professionals, amateurs and women, attracted 64 players from eight clubs including Cercle Sportif, Remera, Laico, Kanombe, Gisenyi, Ruhengeri, UNR and Nyarutarama.
