Over 100 Ruhango mothers rewarded

MUHANGA – At least 130 mothers in Rugendabari sector, Muhanga district were last week rewarded for observing the required antenatal and postnatal tests while embracing family planning measures.

The mothers received various assorted gifts as one of the ways of recognizing their efforts in participating in the set government health programs.

Sosthène Umutoniwase Kamana, a district health official, commended Rugendabari sector for being proactive in reducing risks of child and mother mortality rates.

The Ministry of Health has this year, set aside an estimated Rwf372million for rewarding and encouraging pregnant mother to access health services in 31 health centers in the sectors under Vision Umurenge Project (VUP).

Kamana said, "The program of rewarding mothers has encouraged many women to abide by health requirements and this should be scaled up in other sectors so as to have a bigger impact by the initiative.”
