KENYA’s elite athlete Jacob Kenadgor has confirmed participation in this month’s Kigali International Marathon set for May 23. The Executive Secretary Flora Rwigema told Times Sport yesterday that the Kenyan runner, who won the 2008 edition after setting a new record of two hours, eighteen minutes and six seconds has confirmed his presence.
KENYA’s elite athlete Jacob Kenadgor has confirmed participation in this month’s Kigali International Marathon set for May 23.
The Executive Secretary Flora Rwigema told Times Sport yesterday that the Kenyan runner, who won the 2008 edition after setting a new record of two hours, eighteen minutes and six seconds has confirmed his presence.
"Kenadgor has confirmed he will back to defend his record. He says he will come along with other Kenyan athletes,” Rwigema said.
Kenadgor will now race alongside Rwanda’s ace athlete Dieudonne Disi.
So far, 60 athletes from Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Luxembourg, Italy, France, Australia, Austria,
Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Spain, United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden and USA have registered.
The winner of the full marathon will pocket $2500 while $1500 has been reserved for the half marathon champion.
Last year, Kenya’s Tabut Benjamin Kipkosgei clocked 2 hours, 21 minutes and 38 seconds to claim the full marathon while Bryton Banuelia of Tanzania set a new record in the women fray after clocking 2 hours, 47minutes and 49.
