Rwanda’s national team Amavubi are ranked 40th in Africa and 137th globally as per the latest FIFA Coca Cola World men’s football ranking released on Thursday, December 22.
Carlos Alos Ferrer’s side again failed to improve on the rankings, on both the continental and global level, as they retained the position they had during the previous rankings released in October with 1093.66 points.
World Cup semi finalists Morocco moved top of Africa and 11th on world rankings after putting up impressive exploits at the tournament when they became the first African to reach the World Cup semifinals. Senegal (19), Tunisia (30), Cameroon (33) and Nigeria (35) complete Africa’s top five.
Walid Regragui’s Lions of Atlas were also the joint most improved country by places on the world rankings, alongside Australia. The pair improved 11 places each.
In the CECAFA zone, Uganda tops the region as they rank 89th in the world and 18th in Africa with Kenya, Sudan in, Tanzania and Rwanda completing the top five.
Despite crashing out of the World Cup quarter finals, Brazil remained top of the World rankings followed by champions of the world Argentina.
The duo is followed by finalists France, Belgium, England, Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Portugal and Spain who complete the top 10.
