EASTERN PROVINCE Nyagatare- World Vision International has donated 100,000 books worthy Frw 54,500,000 to Umutara Polytechnic. The donation includes science commercial and languages books.The books were handed to the school late last week and were received by the school’s vice-rector Dr.Eugene Ndabaga.

Nyagatare- World Vision International has donated 100,000 books worthy Frw 54,500,000 to Umutara Polytechnic.

The books were handed to the school late last week and were received by the school’s vice-rector Dr.Eugene Ndabaga.
"Like any other growing university, to Umutara Polytechnic has also been lacking books, today we have received over 100,000 books that would facilitate different faculties,” Ndabaga said.
Each of the 100,000 books are accompanied a CD that has the softcopy of the book on it.
Dr Ndabaga added that World Vision’s donation will help the university provide quality education which is in line with ministry education.
"The library is open to the public; so far our university has the best qualified staff in the fields of veterinary medicine and agriculture,” he said
The University’s library is currently being used students, private researchers including local and international and interested people.
Speaking at the function of handing over books to the University, the World Vision representative at the function, Mugunga Matabalo said that it is his organisation’s responsibility to support and promote education development including higher institutions of learning.
"Umutara Polytechnic is a growing institution that needs material support, this is why World Vision International decided to intervene with its support of books especially those of science which is in line with government’s vision in the promoting science subjects in the country,” Mugunga said.
The World vision donation of books has come at time when Umutara Polytechnic has offered a number of science bursaries in the disciplines of veterinary medicine and agriculture as a back support of the government commitment to promote the science in higher institution of learning.
