Ten-time national league champion APR are back in the hunt for this year’s Primus National League title when they face relegation bound Musanze this afternoon at the latter’s home ground in Musanze, Northern Province.
The defending champions, who are on the verge of winning their eleventh league title go into today’s match needing to win and stretch the gap lead on second placed Atraco to an assailable eight points.
Atraco have two more matches let while APR have four including today’s game. Musanze are rooted at the bottom of the standings with 12 points.
Erik Paske’s Black and White outfit has 45 points, five ahead of Atraco with Etincelles sitting a further point off the pace in third.
A win for the military side, who are yet to face Atraco in the second round will all but hand them the title. Sam Timbe’s Atraco face a tricky test against this season’s surprise package Etincelles at Umuganda stadium tomorrow.
Fourth-placed Rayon Sport play away to Amagaju in Nyamagabe this afternoon as interim coach Emmanuel Ruremesha looks forward to close gap on Etincelles for third place.
SC Kiyovu in fifth place take on relegation battling AS Kigali at Mumena stadium while Marines host fellow strugglers Mukura at Umuganda stadium.
Electrogaz, who secured their maiden qualification to the semifinals of the MTN Peace Cup competition play away to Police at Nyamirambo stadium.
