POEM : Who gave u permission to change me

Did I agree to this imposition of suits and heels?I was much happier with my torn jeans and converseWhen did I decide that war and hate was the only thing I wanted to learn And that the dark clouds silver lining is a dull grey Only brightened by the prospect that tomorrow could be worse When did life suddenly mean that I must conform to something.

Did I agree to this imposition of suits and heels?
I was much happier with my torn jeans and converse
When did I decide that war and hate was the only thing I wanted to learn And that the dark clouds silver lining is a dull grey Only brightened by the prospect that tomorrow could be worse When did life suddenly mean that I must conform to something.

I am not so, I do not become the ‘strange’ one?
Sinisterity did suit me until they told me to pick left or right
While the middle withered from under me
I looked right and saw the liberals Readily accepting me and my non so godly ways But wanted me to be a part of something bigger than self On the left l saw the conservatives Cross in one hand and a silver spoon in the other Fearing the bigger being upstairs they oppressed the lesser man

They called unto me, told me that it was a choice for one to claim on the state

And that with a little will power all could be achieved
Bigots!

I should stand still!
Searching for another path
I was always told there’s more than two ways
Left or Right-took the middle
Always the rebel I invented my own
Not to say I’ll not fail - in fact I hope so
When I do rise it will be higher than ever
