Laico Hotel donates to Genocide orphans

Laico Hotel on Friday donated Rwf 1.2m and an assortment of clothes worth Rwf740,000 to orphans of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rusororo Sector, Gasabo District. The donation was handed to Urwibutso Association of Genocide orphans in Rusororo.

Laico Hotel on Friday donated Rwf 1.2m and an assortment of clothes worth Rwf740,000 to orphans of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rusororo Sector, Gasabo District.

The donation was handed to Urwibutso Association of Genocide orphans in Rusororo.

Speaking to the local leaders and residents at Ruhanga conference hall, the Managing Director of Laico Hotel, Maulud Almrabt said that the donation was meant to improve the living conditions of Genocide orphans in the sector.

He requested the Sector and the beneficiaries to efficiently and effectively use the money provided and to maintain the items they donated to them.

The Executive Secretary of Rusororo Sector, Theophile Niragire, thanked Laico for the kind gesture.

He also called upon other people in the hotel business to also provide support to vulnerable survivors.

Edward Murenzi, the founder and president of Urwibutso Association said, "We are really delighted to have got such assistance from Laico Hotel because this shows that they don’t only care about their clients.”

According to Murenzi, Urwibutso has 93 Genocide orphans adding that they will use the money in their Bee Hive and Livestock projects.
