MUHANGA- Three people cheated death narrowly on Tuesday  when a heavy load truck rammed into a building at Gahogo trading center in Muhanga district.

Residents and Police rescued an unidentified young man, woman and 6 yr old child from the destroyed house and rushed them to Kabgayi Hospital.

Witnesses say that the accident occurred when the driver, Emmanuel Nyagatare, tried to avoid a head-on collision with a Gitarama Prison’s truck which was approaching from the opposite direction.

"This is the second accident involving a heavy load truck, at the same spot in four months. Luckily enough nobody died,” one eye witness said.

Police said the truck belongs to one Venuste Nsabimpuhwe, a Gitarama businessman. The truck’s driver escaped after the accident.

In October, last year, a Tanzania bound truck claimed the life of Abedi Ruzigana, the Muhanga vice -Mayor in charge of economic affairs, along the same Butare-Kigali  road stretch.
