KIGALI - A German charity foundation, Ruanda Stiftung, yesterday handed over a fully renovated cafeteria, meeting hall and two dormitories of House of Hope School for the handicapped in Rulindo District, Rusiga Sector.

The Catholic Church-owned five year old school provides education and accommodation to 78 handicapped children of Rulindo aged between six and eighteen years.
According to Ruanda Stiftung Head of Mission, Sally Martin, the renovation cost Rwf41m.

"We did this to provide a decent life to these disadvantaged children to study in a proper environment” Martin said.

She also revealed that in July, her organisation will embark on the renovation of the school’s classrooms.

The Director of the school, Fr. Bernardin Banituze, commended the foundation’s efforts in empowering the less privileged children.

"Because of these efforts, our children now have a reason to hope for a better tomorrow”

"They now know that there are people who care about them and want to help them to become the best that they can become.

"We have had a lot of support from the District and from the central government which helps to pay the teachers,” Banituze said.
