ERIC Nshimiyimana claims the Primus league title is APR’s to lose after watching his side widen their lead at the top of the table in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over weaklings Amagaju at Nyamirambo’s regional stadium.

Malawi international Victor Nyirenda scored the game’s lone goal to keep the team on course of lifting a record eleventh league title. APR moved to 45 points, five clear of their key challengers Atraco.

"We don’t need to send a message to the other teams. This is a good message for us. We needed to win and we did,” Nshimiyimana said.

However, Nshimiyimana doesn’t need to be reminded that the title race is far from done as the side still has to play three of the top four sides.

APR still have to play Atraco, Rayon Sport, Etincelles and Musanze."We have a tricky end to the league and need to stay on our toes until the end,” he added.

Ahead of their MTN Peace Cup and Kagame Cup engagements, Nshimiyimana reckons that the team is good to go.

"The atmosphere in the team is great. The players are confident and know that they have a chance of winning a treble,” the former APR and Amavubi midfielder said.

The military side returns to action tomorrow when they take on AS Kigali in the last eight of the lucrative MTN Peace Cup.

After the tie, the team will then regroup for the Kagame Cup where they have been drawn in Pool A alongside African champions TP Mazembe, Vital’O of Burundi and Telkom of Djibouti.
