RWANDA has been handed a tough group at this year’s Davis Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group III championship which got underway yesterday in Marrakech, Morocco.

Rwanda was drawn against Algeria and Nigeria in Group D. Group C constitutes Tunisia, Ghana, Cameroon and Benin, hosts Morocco are drawn in Group A alongside Ivory Coast and Kenya while Group B pits Zimbabwe with Botswana, Madagascar and Congo.

Rwanda’s team includes Dieudonne Habiyambere, Olivier Nkunda, Melee Bizimana and Justin Ntaheranwa. The team opens their campaign today against Nigeria before facing Algeria tomorrow.

Kenya’s campaign will be led by Gilbert Kibet, Francis Thuku, Dennis Ochieng, Rawal Yash and George Oyoo.

Rwanda, who have had a forgettable outing in the competition over the last four years need to finish among the top two in the play-offs to get promoted to Group II.
