The Rwanda National Police (RNP) marked the beginning of the Police Environmental Protection Week yesterday with the planting of over 8000 trees in Kigali city. The trees were planted in Rusororo sector in Gasabo district, Gahanga sector in Kicukiro district and Nyamirambo sector of Nyarugenge district.

The trees were planted in Rusororo sector in Gasabo district, Gahanga sector in Kicukiro district and Nyamirambo sector of Nyarugenge district.
The exercise attracted police officials, districts employees, motorcyclists and Local Defense Forces personnel.
In Nyarugenge, Police officials together with Local Defense Forces personnel, constructed terraces on Mount Kigali to stop soil erosion.
Speaking during the exercise in Kicukiro district, the Regional Police Commander, central region, Chief Supt Rogers Rutikanga, called on the population to always strive to protect the environment in the district.
"The national police organized this tree planting event in order to have a better environment in the region and to fight against soil erosion in the country,” Rutikanga said.
The DPC of Nyarugenge district, Supt Danny Ndayambaje, said that before the end of the week, they would plant more trees in Kanyinya sector.
