Rwandau2019s improved ICT has fostered economic growth.

Editor,

The information technology (ICT) industry has become one of the most robust sectors in Rwanda. ICT, more than any other industry or economic facet, has an increased productivity, particularly in the developed world, however in the developing world, the challenges still exist.

I appreciate Rwanda’s move towards achieving a Knowledge-based economy and its empowerment of children through the One Laptop Per Child Initiative and lately MINEDUC’s new laptop scheme that will benefit students in secondary schools and universities.

Developing this sector is surely a key driver towards attaining economic growth and competing globally. Since ICT encompasses all possible aspects of the economy, there is need for Rwanda to continue training the youth in information systems based on computers since they are the leaders of tomorrow.

As Rwanda trains more students to become software and hardware developers in the future, the country will emerge as a major global source of both growth and employment.
