APR handball club are reveling in their recent victory over the revamped Kigali Institute of Education (KIE).

The army side, who marched into the weekend Labour Day event on the back of a 22-27 league defeat against KIE made amends by downing the latter in Sunday’s final. APR came off 25-18 victors to secure their first honours of the 2010 season.

"It was a great victory and a great confidence boaster ahead of Saturday’s league tie against National University of Rwanda (UNR).”

"We have worked on our defense and believe we are in better shape since our loss to KIE,” said APR coach Jean Marie Vienne Munyangondo.

For their heroics, APR pocketed a cash prize of Rwf50, 000.
Meanwhile, the women league will open with two ties; defending champions APAPEKI Cyuru will play Gicumbi while St.Joseph Kabgayi will host UNR.
