ELITE runner Dieudonné Disi has had a change of heart and will now run in the sixth edition of the Kigali International Marathon scheduled for May 22-23.

A few weeks back, the 29-year-old, who is currently stationed in France, had ruled himself out of Rwanda’s premier athletics event citing personal reasons but in a recent email to Times Sport, the ace athlete who missed out on last year’s edition, affirmed that he would run in the full marathon (42km) category.

"I’m coming next week to start preparing for the Kigali International Marathon. I will bring some runners from France too,” the email read in part.

Although only 60 athletes from Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Luxembourg, Italy, France and Australia have registered, the organisers are confident the number will go up.

Unlike previous editions, this year’s half (21km) and full (42km) marathons will be preceded with a 5km Run for Fun race.

The winner of the full marathon will pocket $2500 while the winner of the half marathon will walk away with $1500.

Last year, Kenya’s Tabut Benjamin Kipkosgei clocked 2 hours, 21 minutes and 38 seconds sweep the full marathon while Bryton Banuelia of Tanzania set a new record in the women fray after clocking 2 hours, 47minutes and 49 seconds.
