APR vs Amagaju

APR resume their hunt for a tenth Primus league title this afternoon when they take on minnows Amagaju at Nyamirambo’s Regional stadium.

With two games in hand, the reigning league champions are still at the helm of the league standings with 42 points and victory today will give the side a five-point cushion over Atraco in second place.

APR will also use the game to assess their form ahead of the Kagame Cup where the side has been drawn in Pool A alongside African champions TP Mazembe, Vital’O of Burundi and Telkom of Djibouti.

Assistant Coach Eric Nshimiyimana is confident his boys will tame the Southern Province side in the lone game of the day.

"The team is in good shape and should grind out the points tomorrow. We know what is at stake and we are ready to do the job,” he said.

APR, who recently saw the return of their Dutch coach Erik Paske, will be without key defenders Didier Kapet and Tchimanga Mutamba. The pair is suspended for the clash.

Amagaju have had a forgettable campaign after managing 13 points in 19 league matches. Defeat today will all but sink the side further into the relegation zone.
