EDITOR,
I’m happy to read in The New Times of May 3, that the Rwandan embassy in the US will open its doors for the whole of this month, to the public during a special event called Passport DC, an annual celebration of international culture presented by Cultural Tourism DC.
I think that this kind of activity is one way to put our name out there, without having to pay huge sums of money on advertisement in the US media.
Activities such as these bring the people living in the city (in this case Washington DC) into the embassy, where we can now show them what Rwanda is all about.
I suggest that such an ‘open house’ be undertaken by each Rwandan embassy worldwide, in collaboration with Rwandan businesses.
This would increase Rwanda’s visibility in those countries and probably increase the number of people who understand what Rwanda is all about.
This would increase the number of people interested in Rwanda and what Rwanda has to offer. A spike in the number of tourists Rwanda got would be a consequence of that kind of initiative.
