Eight for Football for Hope Festival

EIGHT youngsters from Esperance Youth Club in Kimisagara will represent Rwanda at the Football for Hope Festival scheduled for July 4-10 in one of Johannesburg’s townships- Alexandra.

The youngsters include Anne Maria Ibangarye, Dossir Amir Uwase, Chadia Uwamahirwe, Mefia Hakizimana, Innocent Twagirayezu, David Nzabanita, Jean de Dieu Rukundo and Gustave Higiro and according to the head of Kimisagara Youth Center, Donatien Nsengimana, the tournament is an official event for the FIFA World Cup.

"Each delegation is selected not for their skill on the pitch but their contribution to social change in disadvantaged communities around the world.”

During their stay in South Africa, the pack will also take part in workshops and activities where they will learn from each other and improve their work.

The Football for Hope Festival will be a unique opportunity for organisations using football as a tool for social development in every part of the world to interact with each other and to showcase their programs on football’s biggest stage, the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
