One thing I have noticed is that so many children have so much material to read however, they lack the initiative to do so.

Last week, the Rwanda marked the International Reading Day in Kigali. The First lady was the guest of honour and she encouraged numerous children to read.

Children have young, fresh minds and should endeavor to make use of all their unexplored skills in reading in writing.

Children who read a lot have deeper insight on different topics and experiences that are happening around the world. The truth is that no single person can learn without reading, which is why teachers give notes in class so that students can revise and pass their exams.

When children read, they get to know how unique different cultures are around the world. They also learn about their countries and culture in history so that they do not repeat the same mistakes.

When you read a lot, children also learn to write. Practice makes perfect and the more you write, the better your hand-writing gets. Besides writing goes hand in hand with reading.

Whatever knowledge you discover through reading you, have to share it through writing. This is how people learn from each other.

If all children made reading a hobby, they would broaden their minds and explore what is not known to them. If this happens then all children would become great writers.
