GISAGARA - Muganza Sector on Friday rewarded local residents who demonstrated extraordinary commitment in the execution of different programmes all aimed at improving social welfare.

Among those rewarded were model farmers, people who had embraced the Sector saving scheme - Umurenge Sacco and villages with low crime rate.

Valens Singirankabo, a model farmer was recognized for keeping a cow donated to him under the One- Cow per Family programme.

"I’m happy to be recognized as the best farmer in the sector, this motivates me to do more so as to keep my place as the best in this area,” he said.

Supt Jean Marie Njangwe, the District Police Commander commended Sector residents for their accomplishments, urging them to use the prevailing peace in the country to improve their welfare.

The winners got an assortment of prizes that included mobile phones, farming equipment and animal drugs among others.
