Toward the end of the week, President Paul Kagame visited the US based Greater Atlanta Christian School (GACS) located in Atlanta, Georgia with an aim of exploring an education partnership between the school and Rwanda.

It also came to light that GACS, is set to establish a Central Africa School of Excellence which will be based in Rwanda and Kagame was given an overview of the school’s master plan that will serve about 2000 students when complete.

AS one of the activities organized in preparation of the World Press Freedom Day, media practitioners this week honored victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Journalists from various media houses converged at ETO-Kicukiro where they marched to the Nyanza Memorial Site in Kucukiro district, in honour of 49 journalists who were killed during the Genocide.

This week, state Prosecution said it’s ready to produce irrefutable evidence linking Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza to a terrorist group with plans to cause state insecurity as well as evidence pinning her on two other charges.

This was revealed during a press briefing held to clarify on claims by international media that Ingabire’s arrest and arraignment in court last week was politically motivated.

The Government Spokesperson, Louise Mushikiwabo, said that prosecution has concrete evidence of Ingabire’s activities and plans to continue with ‘the Genocide’ against the Tutsi.

It was reported that former students of Ntare School in Uganda, under their umbrella organisation, Ntare School Old Boys Association (NSOBA) Rwanda Chapter, are set to embark on a major fundraising drive to build a model secondary school to the level of their former school.

The modern school which is estimated to cost over Rwf2.5bn, will be located in Bugesera District and old boys; President Paul Kagame and his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni, are expected to grace the fundraising drive.

The Former Mayor of Bicumbi, in the Eastern Province, Juvenal Rugambarara, confessed that the notorious Interahamwe militias were involved in the killings of Tutsi civilians in his area during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
In a cross-examination by Prosecutor Takeh Sendze, Rugambarara further conceded that the pro-Hutu Interahamwe militia was a youth wing of the then ruling party MRND.
He was testifying as the 35th defence witness for genocide suspect, Joseph Nzirorera, former MRND Secretary General.

The Prosecution has revealed that it will soon issue an arrest warrant for a top Genocide fugitive now hiding in the Netherlands.

The fugitive, a former ex-FAR, Maj. Pierre-Claver Karangwa, 54, is alleged to have been one of the key masterminds in the massacre of thousands during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

He is among those in the first category - he is accused of orchestrating massacres in his home area of Mugina sector, Kamonyi and in Nyamirambo, in Kigali”. Nkusi also revealed that there over 10 other Genocidaires holed up in the Netherlands.

Kigali City Council (KCC) in partnership with Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), have embarked on a joint initiative to rejuvenate agricultural production in Kajevuba swamp located in Gasabo district.

The 100-hectare swamp used to be the model of agricultural production, where locals and cooperatives used to harvest tonnes of produce which enabled them to export the surplus, but the trend had changed due to land degradation and floods.

She challenged residents neighboring the swamp to take the lead by showing commitment towards making the swamp more productive, saying that they are the immediate beneficiaries.

Kobil Petroleum Company contributed Rwf 3.2m to cater for Health Insurance for 200 vulnerable residents, who include genocide survivors in Gatsata Sector.

During the ceremony, the Managing Director of Kobil Rwanda, Ido Granatstein, said that their contribution will help to improve the living standards of the vulnerable people in the sector.

Jean Sauveur Kalisa, the Executive Secretary of Gatsata Sector, thanked Kobil for donating the money to his Sector saying that this will help to improve the living conditions of the poor in the area
