KIGALI - Felix Munyakabera, the head of the central secretariat in the Ministry of Health (MoH), was yesterday rewarded as best employee of the ministry for the year 2009.

Munyakabera was recognized during the ministry’s Labour Day celebrations that were held at Alpha Palace Hotel in Kicukiro.

While handing over a certificate and prize of Rwf500,000, Health Minister, Dr. Richard Sezibera noted that Munyakabera is very competent and the best performer of last year.

"He has done his work both efficiently and effectively,” the minister said.

In line with this year’s theme for the day, "hands on skills is a key to employment,” Sezibera called upon all the other employees to respond to capacity building incentives, adding that employees should embrace restructuring processes since they aim at ensuring that the right people are in the right jobs.

"During such celebrations, managers and directors in all departments of the ministry meet to share ideas with the people they head so that we can together promote health in our country – a major need,” he said.

"The theme indeed emphasizes the work of our ministry since everything we do is based on skills; we must, however, motivate and evaluate ourselves often so that we can be better workers.”

The Minister addressed issues presented by employees and thanked them for collective efforts that have led to achieving major health targets despite the challenges encountered daily.
