The Governor of the central bank, Francois Kanimba, has said yesterday that the note is already in circulation.
"When we realised the need to have a new denomination on the market, the central bank presented a proposal to the Cabinet, and it was approved,” Kanimba said.
He said the tender to print the new note was won and implemented by a Belgian company, De La Rue Currency and Security Print Ltd.
De La Rue finished printing the banknotes last week and BNR requested the cabinet to circulate the notes, Kanimba said.
