APR bounced back from GSU’s loss by thrashing Burundi’s Muzinga 3-0 in their pursuit to finish 13th at the on-going Africa Men’s Club Championship in Tunisia.

The military side needed only 76 minutes to secure their fourth win (25-18, 25-23, 25-17) in the competition.

In the semi-final, eight time record holders Al Ahly of Egypt continued their successful pathway in the competition after clinching a respectable straight sets victory over the organizers Sfax 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-19) in 71 minutes of thrilling action.

Zamalek also stormed the final after fighting back from a set down to pull off a 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-20) victory over the black horse of the competition Bourj Bouarrirj in 104 minutes.

It now promises to be a thrilling final on two fronts; Ahly wants to be the first team in the history of the competition to lift the title without dropping a set while Zamalek wants to become only the third side to win the title three times on the trot after Club Africain of Tunisia (1990- 1993) and Al Ahly of Egypt (1995- 1997). Zamalek also want to become the first African club to qualify for the Club World Cup in succession.
