This year, twelve teams are in contention.
Rwanda’s football giants APR are placed in Pool A alongside TP Mazembe, Burundi’s Vital’O and Telkom of Djibouti.
Rayon Sport will face Ethiopia’s St. George, Nigeria’s Heartland and Mafunzo of Zanzibar in Pool B while Pool C pits reigning champions Atraco with Kenya’s Sofapaka, Uganda Revenue Authority and Tanzania’s Simba.
The event will kick off with a Pool A clash between two-time winners APR and Burundi’s Vital’O at Amahoro stadium.
The military side will then play Djibouti’s Telkom on May 19 before renewing their rivalry with African champions TP Mazembe three days later.
In Pool B, Rayon Sport will open their quest against Ethiopia’s St. George before engaging Zanzibar’s Mafunzo and Nigeria’s Heartland on May 20 and May 23 respectively.
Reigning champions Atraco have the toughest task of the three Rwandan sides after drawing Tanzania’s Simba, Uganda Revenue Authority and Sofapaka of Kenya in Pool C.
