Secondary students in Kicukiro District were yesterday called upon to always collaborate with the Rwanda National Police (RNP) in maintaining security within the district.
The call was made yesterday by Chief Supt Rogers Rutikanga, the Regional Police Commander (RPC) of the central region while addressing over 2,500 students at APAPE Secondary School in Kagarama Sector.

Rutikanga further called upon students to always avoid immoral behavior like drug abuse and cross generation sex which he said may expose them to HIV/AIDS and early pregnancies.
He also encouraged the students to collaborate with the Police in fighting corruption; Gender based Violence and injustice in the country.
The Kicukiro vice mayor in charge of Economic Affairs, Georgette Rutayisire, urged the students to fight the genocide ideology, not only in their respective schools, but also their areas of residence.
Speaking to The New Times shortly after the function, Rutikanga said that the activity was one of the events organized to mark the 10th anniversary of the National Police force.
The Head Prefect of Gikondo School of Applied Sciences, Kenny Mugwaneza, who spoke on behalf of the students, said that they had benefited a lot from the meeting, adding that they will work with the police authorities in enhancing security.
