The City of Kigali Oklahoma City in the United States will today sign a memorandum of understanding in Oklahoma aimed at establishing a partnership which will focus on exploring educational, economic and cultural opportunities.

The ceremony will be presided over by the Mayors of both cities; Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, and her counterpart, Mick Cornett at a function to be held in Oklahoma City Hall.

According to a press statement from Kigali City Council, the partnership will also support and encourage visits by citizens of both cities to promote mutual understanding and respect toward a hopeful future for these cities. 

In a four-day visit to Oklahoma City, Kirabo is also expected to address Oklahoma Christian University about the investment opportunities in Kigali.

Oklahoma Christian University has more than 60 Rwandan students. 

The Mayor is also scheduled to meet Oklahoma Secretary of State, Susan Savage and Lieutenant Governor Jeri Askins and visit Oklahoma Bombing Memorial site.

Oklahoma Bombing Memorial site contains over 680 remains of the April 19, 1995 Oklahoma City bombing on Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building by Timothy McVeigh, an American militia movement sympathizer, who detonated an explosive-filled truck.

The bomb attack that destroyed over 320 buildings within a sixteen-block radius and set on fire over 86 cars, is estimated to have caused at least $652 million worth of damage.
