It’s certainly newsworthy that Kigali City Council last month collected Rwf 4.6bn from taxes, an increase of Rwf 2.5bn from the previuos year.

The City Mayor, Aisa Kirabo Kacyira, said that the increase was a result of various initiatives put in place to facilitate tax collection.

I want to congratulate the city authorities for this great achievement. Now the onus is on the City Council to give us, the residents, even greater services.

The Council has done a great job so far, and I believe that, with the extra funds, I will see a great improvement.
