According to statistics from the National Police’s Traffic department, 96,000 potential motorists yesterday descended on several driving license examination centres across the country to sit for  the provisional driving license exam.

Speaking to The New Times, Traffic Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police, John Bosco Kabera, said that owning a driving permit is every one’s right. 

"Possession of a driving license is one of the necessities every responsible citizen should have; that is why we have a big turn up.” Kabera said.

He hastened to add that the exercise of having many people sit of permits exams is going to continue.
The massive registration and issuing of driving licenses is part of the Police’s 10th anniversary celebrations that are set to last two months.
