KIGALI - The newly appointed director of the Eastern African Standby Brigade Coordination Mechanism (EASBRICOM), Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Cyrille Ndayirukiye, paid a courtesy call on Defence Minister Gen. James Kabarebe at his offices yesterday.
KIGALI - The newly appointed director of the Eastern African Standby Brigade Coordination Mechanism (EASBRICOM), Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Cyrille Ndayirukiye, paid a courtesy call on Defence Minister Gen. James Kabarebe at his offices yesterday.
"I came to show appreciation for the support I was given during my recent appointment to lead EASBRICOM and, to seek advice on how to better lead EASBRICOM for the good interests of every member state,” he said.
Ndayirukiye, who is in the country on a working visit, told The New Times that his call on Gen. Kabarebe was also meant to congratulate him on his recent appointment.
EASBRICOM is the ‘independent coordination secretariat’ of the Eastern Africa Standby Brigade (EASBRIG).
It became operational following the approval by the 1st extraordinary summit of Head of State and Government of the Eastern Africa region, on the January 28, 2007, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The establishment of EASBRICOM mainly aims at providing the region with capabilities to prevent and manage conflicts.
