Four men and two women who survived the fatal Belvedere Lines road accident that killed three people in Burundi, were yesterday airlifted by a Rwanda Air Force helicopter from Burundi to King Faisal Hospital in Kigali.

According to Jill Rutaremara, the Defense and Military Spokesperson, the victims were seriously injured and in a critical condition at the time of evacuation.

A bus belonging to Belvedere Lines, a local Rwandan transport carrier, on Wednesday collided with another vehicle in Bugarama enroute to Bujumbura. Three people died on the spot.

The Rwanda Air Force has been very active in rescue operations, and has on several occasions been called in to airlift people in critical conditions, from the recent earthquake in the western province, to airlifting the injured of a bus accident in neighbouring Uganda.
