Happiness Kabatesi Hayton is yet another Rwandan contesting for Mr. / Miss East Africa UK 2010, slated for July 3 at Central Hall Westminster, London.

Kabatesi, 22, is a student at Caledonian University in Glasgow, Scotland, she is also a member of the ‘Passionate Warriors’ a Rwandan cultural dance group based in Paisley, Scotland that supports and funds education for underprivileged children in Rwanda.

She models part-time at an agency in London, and also works in a dementia care home in Johnston Scotland. 

Besides these responsibilities, Kabatesi also runs a shop that sells East African items such as clothes and ornaments, to provide Africans living in Scotland access to cultural items. She also uses some of her profits to support African charities, especially in Rwanda.

"This has always been my goal, and my ultimate goal is to open an orphanage centre in Rwanda,” Kabatesi told The New Times.

The Mr. and Miss East Africa UK project is aimed at helping young East Africans to become successful in their ambitions through providing support to; start business and charities within East Africa.
Countries represented in the contest are: Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Somaliland and Djibouti.

The event is predicted to be one of the biggest with contestants not only showcasing beauty and philanthropy but their entrepreneurial skills as well.

The male and female contestants will be competing for the chance to win prize money to assist with their business ventures as well as become voices for East African children.

The pageants which will be judged by a panel of 10 successful entrepreneurs with a split decision from the live audience also aim to bring East Africans in the UK together to socialize and network.

Winners of Mr. and Miss East Africa UK will be chosen by the judges and the audience who will cast their vote on the night. Winners will walk away with cash prizes to assist them with their business ventures.
