A local womenu2019s league game. There should be more emphasis on womenu2019s sports.

Editor,

Women’s football should be given equal treatment, when compared to men’s football. I attended the National women football league match at Kicukiro artificial turf grounds between AS Kigali and Rambura on the 3rd of this month.

The coaches and substitutes either stood or sat on the ground during the entire game.

Immediately after the game ended the National mens football league match between Electrogaz and Amagaju got underway on the same pitch.

However, this time chairs for the officials, coaches and substitutes were provided. I think that this showed a certain disdain for the women’s game.

The media has also shown a certain bias. There seems to be uneven promotion of women sports; the tables and fixtures for the national women league games are not featured in many publications yet it is a different case for of the Men’s league.

The results for women’s games are often announced two days after the games on most radio stations.

This treatment is unfair. I believe that women’s sports will only develop if it is given similar billing with men’s sports.
