In society, different norms change due to the new social trends. African traditional society considered a woman to be subordinate to a man but gender equality changed the concept. Traditionally, it’s been men who were expected to affirm their feelings to a woman but it has taken another angle of late since even women initiate intimate relationships.

It’s on these grounds that I interviewed different people to get their say on the trend.
ANSELM MUHIRE (STUDENT)
Although culture considers it bizarre for a woman to vibe a man, I feel that even women should express their feelings.
MARTHE MUGANYIKA
(DECORATOR)
It’s very immoral for a woman to initiate an intimate relationship, what would the man think of her? I was brought up in a God fearing family so they taught us to respect men so making a move on a man means you are morally tainted.
NEIMA UWAMAHORO
(PARENT)
The act completely portrays immorality, social vices such as divorce, sexual abuse result from this kind of relationship set up. Wealthy women (sugar mummies) relate with our young boys thus their future is doomed.
BOSS (GUARD)
Considering society norms a woman is not supposed to make a move. Men were given the power by God to always lead the women hence in a relationship the man has to make the first move.
HERITIER NIYOMUGABO (TECHNICIAN)
Women also have feelings like men so they have the right to express them even if it means to make the first move in a relationship.
What’s your say?
