The embattled former President of PS Imberakuri political party, Bernard Ntaganda, should be investigated by relevant authorities for his inflammatory language and propagating hatred amongst Rwandans, the Senate recommended Wednesday.

Senator Joseph Karemera, who heads the Political and Good Governance Committee, told members of the Senate that his committee had reached a decision on Ntaganda after studying his case extensively.

"After thoroughly scrutinising his inflammatory words and the disrespectful nature of his responses to our questions, we have even failed to find the appropriate words to describe Ntaganda. We however reached a decision that he be investigated by relevant authorities,” he said.

The Committee’s decision clears the air after the senators reached a stalemate early this month where some requested that Ntaganda be dragged to court while others wanted both Ntaganda and his former political party to be held accountable.

Karemera’s committee also requested that PS Imberakuri be closely monitored lest they lose track of the provisions of the constitution.

Ntaganda was deposed from the helm of the party he helped found for allegedly promoting divisionism and associating with terrorists in March this year.

His elimination was announced by the party’s vice president, Christine Mukabunane, at a gathering that attracted around 300 delegates from all over the country, who make up the party’s National Congress.
