For years, revenge has only caused chaos and untold suffering to people though many still think it’s the best way of justice. But sincerely, does the ‘eye for an eye’ method solve anything? And if it does, are the results long lived?
What if I told you that rewarding people according to what they have done through revenge is cowardice?
Yes, revenge is the lousiest method of solving issues. It only fuels everlasting enmity.
Imagine if someone murdered your father and you also killed his relative? Don’t you think there is no difference between the two of you? After all you are both murderers.
The bible condones revenge, "You shall not avenge, nor bare any grudge against the children of your people…”- Leviticus: 19:18.
So why not leave vengeance to the Lord, like the bible says? For Christ’s sake, why do we use revenge to justify our bad deeds and causes? If there was any perfect human being, I would totally understand the meaning of revenge. Sadly, people always look at the speck in others’ eyes, than the log in theirs!
Revenge is totally unjustifiable. We are all made of flesh and blood and you have wronged someone else in another context but they never avenged for it.
For sure, if revenge was the order of the day, humans would be rare species on planet earth. For example, in Rwanda where millions participated in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, what would happen if the government had chosen the path of revenge?
In whichever way for whatever reason, revenge has deathly repercussions. I am just sorry that revenge only leads to a resentful life on earth.
On the contrary, rewarding evil with good makes a difference. It gives people the chance to change for the better and also builds trust. If a person wrongs me, the best I can ever do is be good to them, after all they get to realize their mistakes and apologise.
