After three months of competition amongst secondary schools with Kigali city, the finals were played on Wednesday at Amahoro indoor stadium courts.
LDK boys edged out St. Andrew by three sets to two while IFAK girls beat LDK three sets to nothing.
The tournament started in September bringing together ten schools from within Kigali city competing for the top prize of Frw120.000, two balls and net staked by the main sponsors, Coca-cola.
The losing finalist walked away with Frw100.000, one ball and a net while the third and fourth teams took three and two balls in addition to a net each respectively.
The Managing Director of Bralirwa, Alexandra Koch thanked all the team that participated and promised to that the tournament would even next year under the same sponsors, Coca-Cola.
"The promotion will continue next year and students have the chance to win lots of schools fees and we encourage them to use the money for their studies,” said Koch.
According to Koch, next year’s competition could change from volleyball to a more popular sport like football or basketball.
Seventy-one students won cheques of Frw100.000 at Wednesday’s final bringing the total of winners to 120 students throughout the three-month long tournament.
Others scholastic materials won during the promotion included books and Coca-Cola bags.
Bralirwa’s soft drinks promoter Martine Gatabazi said that the tournament was a success, something that prompted them (sponsors) to take into next year.
