BURERA – The Minister of Forestry and Mines, Christophe Bazivamo has urged residents of Burera district to work closely with the national security organs to fight crime.

Officiating at the launch of the Police week in the district, Bazivamo commended the Rwanda National Police for the work they have accomplished in the last ten years.

"We didn’t have a real police; we should give credit to RPF for restoring peace and unity that wasn’t there during regimes of dictatorship,” he said. "We should also be responsible for our security by strengthening community policing.”

Where there is security; there is development because people get involved in work, Bazivamo added.

The District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Herimas Murahire, called upon the residents to cooperate with the police in order to maintain law and order in their respective communities.  

"When there is no cooperation between the residents and the police we cannot attain peace and security,” said Murahire.

The Burera Mayor, Samuel Sembagare, urged residents and grassroots leaders in the district to promote justice in order to live in harmony.
