Hakizimana keeps AS Kigali top, as APR rout Lioness

AS KIGALI forward and league top scorer Mefya Hakizimana scored the lone goal as AS Kigali edged past Remera Rukoma (GSSR) yesterday at Nyamirambo’s Regional stadium. There was little to say about a dull first half but on the 57th minute, Hakizimana took her tally to 14 goals when she headed in Shadia Uwamahirwe’s free kick to maintain AS Kigali’s two-point cushion over APR, who left Lioness for dead after a 10-0 rout at Mumena stadium.

And after overcoming GSSR, one of the toughies in the league, AS Kigali coach Grace Nyinawumuntu has now implored her team to maintain their wining streak and retain the league title.

"It was a difficult match but I’m happy that we got the three points. We now need to keep the momentum going.”

For APR, Anatole Nirere and Aime Flora scored hat-tricks while Christine Wanyana and Oliver Amani Mbekeka netted a brace each.
