Editor,
As I read yesterday’s Leisure page in The New Times, I realized that Rwanda has got talent and that artists have the ability to stand out and profile their country through music.
Artists Meddy, Miss JoJo and Kubana shined and made Rwanda proud during their recent concert in South Africa.
Thanks to RwandAir, Rwandan Embassy in South Africa, Simba Supermarket and SABC Radio for organising, sponsoring the concert and giving artists the opportunity to sell their talent overseas.
Just like most Rwandans are mad about soccer and have the ability to fill stadiums to capacity whenever there is a local football match, in the same spirit, they shouldn’t act like they don’t give a damn about the local musicians.
Honestly, music is real: Music helps us find our unique social niche, bringing us together with other folks that share similar interests, music documents the history of social and cultural changes in society, and it is always in a state of perpetual evolution, combining new ideas with older ones to create a sound that’s unique to each generation.
All Rwandans, with a spirit of nationalism need to join efforts and support local artists because they have the talent and only need our support to reach their heights; after all the sky is the limit.
