DIDIER Sella Rogba has been called up to the Amavubi squad after Abbas Rassou withdrew from the squad for family reasons.

Rassou, who has struggled to find the net this season after managing four goals, is expected to return to his native home Cameroon to take care of some family matters.

"He needs to take care of some family issues and report back for national duty before the end of the week,” the local football federation’s CEO Jules Kalisa confirmed.

The team, which entered camp on Monday at Hotel La Palisse, has been working out at Amahoro stadium’s gym but is now expected to upgrade to double training sessions as they prepare to face Tanzania in the first leg of the final qualifying round of the 2011 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

Amavubi who marched into the second round with ease following Eritrea’s last minute withdraw know that they have to be solid at the back against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars who progressed in commanding fashion after a 6-0 goal rout against Somalia.

The first leg will be played next Saturday in Dar es Salaam while the return leg will be hosted in Kigali on the weekend of June 5-6.

After missing out on last year’s edition following a humiliating 0-4 loss to Sudan at the preliminary stage, Tetteh is eager to win over the fans by qualifying the team to the tournament which will be held in Sudan from January 21 to February 10.

With qualifiers being played in six zones, Africa’s football governing body (Caf) has doubled the number of participating teams to 16.
