NATIONAL rally champion Davite Giancarlo and Fitidis Christakis will be Rwanda’s flag bearers at this year’s KCB Pearl of Africa Uganda rally scheduled for April 30-May 2.
According to the entry list on the ARC website, the pair is among 21 drivers who are ready to dust it up in Uganda.
Other drivers in the fray include reigning African champion James Whyte (Zimbabwe), Godfrey Lubega, Jas Mangat, Ponsiano Lwakataka and Susan Muwonge among others.
On top of being a second tier on the KCB East Africa Rally Challenge, the race also counts as a third round on the Africa Rally Championship (ARC).
In the opening two rounds of the championship; Kobil Rally of Tanzania and KCB Safari rally, Giancarlo played second fiddle to Whyte which explains the 21-point gap between the two drivers.
Whyte scored maximum points in the two races and leads the charts with 76 points, 21 ahead of Giancarlo and 55 ahead of Christakis and Burundi’s Alain Dethise who are jointly tied in third place.
The race will start with a super special stage at Lubiri.
