NYAGATARE – Police in Nyagatare district has been hailed for reducing crimes and ensuring security for residents and their properties. The district vice Mayor in charge of Economic Affairs, Enock Byabashaija made the remarks during the launch the Police week on Monday.

The district vice Mayor in charge of Economic Affairs, Enock Byabashaija made the remarks during the launch the Police week on Monday.
‘On this day, the district and entire residents of Nyagatare should give an exceptional applause to police in the district for helping us to curb various forms of crimes that had persisted in our district in recent years,’ he said.
‘I remember there was a year when Nyagatare district emerged second after Gasabo district in high crime rates…but this time with serious measures taken by police crime rates have gone down.’
Supt. Damien Gasana, who represented the district Police Commander, attributed their achievements to the continued support from residents.
‘We are celebrating the 10th anniversary since the National Police was formed. But at the same time we commend residents for helping us to fight crimes and protecting residents in general,’ he said.
The event was characterised by a joint march by police officials and residents from Nyagatare town main round about to Umutara Polytechnic University.
