MUHANGA – The Ministry of Education has called on teachers to lead the fight against HIV/Aids by educating the students and the community on ways of fighting the deadly scourge.

The call was made by Dr. Christine Gasingirwa, the director of science and research in the Ministry of Education, while closing a five day training of trainers workshop on HIV/Aids, held in Muhanga district on Saturday.

The participants were drawn from each district countrywide. They were trained on various aspects of HIV/Aids prevention and infection and urged to disseminate the lessons to their respective communities.

Gasingirwa said that the role of teachers in society is vital in boosting Aids fight so as to create a virus-free generation.

"Teachers should use their positions in society to educate their students and the community on HIV/Aids prevention. They should lead by example in order to have a healthy generation,” she said.
